Jesus Cutiño

Jesús Cutiño, born in 1974 in Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, Cuba, is a renowned Cuban singer-songwriter, guitarist, and tres maestro—now based in London. Raised in a musical family of trovadores, he began playing guitar at age five and wrote his first song by sixteen. Initially balancing literature studies and music, he emerged professionally with Mariachi Tunas, later joining Superstar salsa ensemble Super banda Surik in Cuba and leading Son de Mi Tierra in Havana.

Relocating to London in 1998, Jesús quickly rose through the salsa scene, joining the world-traveling fusion band Ska Cubano in 2004 and performing at festivals like WOMAD, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and even at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Since 2002, he has spearheaded Jesús Cutiño & Son de Cuba, a top-tier London-based Cuban ensemble celebrated for its compelling blend of son, salsa-timba, flamenco, reggaetón, and jazz. His songwriting impresses with clever wordplay and emotional depth, while his energetic improvisation and stage charisma make him a standout.
He continued to expand his artistic footprint with the timba album “En La Cima”, collaborating with Cuban music legends such as Chucho Valdés, Alexander Abreu, and Manolito Simonet. Bold, poetic, and irresistibly danceable, Jesús Cutiño remains a driving force in bringing authentic, evolving Cuban sound to global audiences.
