5 Fresh Takes on Jazz: Emerging Women Composers in Concert will highlight 5 women from different states & continents and their unique and individual approach to creating music. Gosia Julia Maj is a jazz singer, composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist with a soulful voice and sophisticated style. A native of Poland who lives in the Netherlands and U.S., the versatile 33 year old has recorded with trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, tenor saxophonist Don Braden and many other jazz luminaries. Gosia, who attended University of the Arts as an undergrad, is enrolled as a Fulbright scholar at Temple University, where she will receive a master’s in jazz studies in May. Join us for a “Meet the Composer” reception open to all attendees following the performance. $10 tickets for students available with school ID. This performance will feature our jazz club set-up, with cabaret-style seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be ample seating for all guests.
