5 Fresh Takes on Jazz: Emerging Women Composers in Concert will highlight 5 women from different states & continents and their unique and individual approach to creating music. Laura Lizcano is a Colombian-born singer-songwriter based in New York City. Influenced by artists such as Norah Jones, Natalia Lafourcade and Caroline Shaw, Laura combines her formal training as a jazz vocalist with her love of folk, pop and contemporary classical music. Laura, 28, grew up in Central Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from Temple University. In October of 2022, she released her second studio album, Daughter of the Sea. Join us for a “Meet the Composer” reception open to all attendees following the performance. $10 tickets for students available with school ID. This performance will feature our jazz club set-up, with cabaret-style seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be ample seating for all guests.
