MOK Fest “Dalriada Connections Concert”
Imar, There are many reasons to be excited about new Glasgow-based five-piece Ímar – not least a line-up featuring current and former members of Mànran, Mec Lir, RURA and Talisk, whose collectively crammed trophy-cabinet includes several BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and All-Britain/All-Ireland titles. By far the best and biggest reason, however, is how excited the band are themselves.
The band are Cork-born uilleann piper, flautist and whistle player Ryan Murphy (Mànran), fiddler Tomás Callister and bouzouki ace Adam Rhodes (Mec Lir), both from the Isle of Man, Adam Brown (Rura) on bodhrán plus Glasgow native Mohsen Amini (Talisk) on concertina.
Che Martin, is a Campbeltown born singer/songwriter has been writing songs for the past 10 years creating a catalogue of over 30 songs. These range from indie folk rock to gentle ballads and anthemic Scottish standards with a local theme. His Lyrical style has been called Dylanesque with deep vocals likened to Johnny Cash. Che maintains it’s just the whisky and bonfires and leave it to the listener to decide. He has a forthcoming album in 2026 and features regularly on Argyll FM. This is Che’s debut performance at the Dalriada Connections concert with a set based on his own, local songs.
